March 30th, 2007 Breast Cancer Fundraiser Jezebels Jam
 Janelle Hughes- Breast Cancer Survivor
Jezebels Jam is a concert of four female bands playing at Miles of Beans on March 30th to raise money for the BC Breast Cancer Foundation.
This fundraiser is being organized by my friend Chris Maskulak. I met Chris while I was waiting in line at Canadian Idol to promote Bald is Beautiful. In such a short time we have become very close friends. When he told me that I inspired him to organize a fundraiser for breast cancer research I was unbelievably touched.

March 6-07 Gala Committee member Peace Arch Community Services Gala Raises Thousands
Peace Arch Community Services’ annual gala just might have set another record. Final fundraising numbers from Saturday’s soiree aren’t ready, but South Pacific Passion organizers are optimistic totals will at least match those of last year – $56,000.
“I’m hoping we’ve done at least as well as last year, and last year was our best ever,” gala chair Alicia Hagerman said.
The sold-out evening drew 200 guests in semi-formal and Hawaiian attire to Hazelmere Golf & Country Club, which was transformed into a tropical paradise of exotic plants, flowers and palm trees.
The evening included live and silent auctions, where everything from weekend getaways to art, sports memorabilia, and even a one-year lease on a fully loaded Ford F150 pickup were up for grabs.
Sponsors and donors were recognized. PACS’ Martin Harris highlighted the agency’s successes, including PACS’ recognition as Surrey Board of Trade’s non-profit of the year, voted Best Community Service Organization.
Hagerman praised emcee and auctioneer, MLA Gordon Hogg, for keeping the evening light by “teasing and cajoling” guests to support the cause.
“We had quite a few laughs,” she said.
“The decor was fantastic; the band, Ray Meyers, was so tremendous,” Hagerman added.
Presenting sponsor for the affair was V-1500 Holdings. Proceeds will benefit PACS’ 14 programs and services, for infants to seniors.
